Revere (Paul) statue is dedicated.
September 22, 1940
Artist: Cyrus Dallin. Commissioned in 1885, it was originally to be installed in Copley Square, but is instead installed in The Prado off Hanover Street. Prior to its installation, a controversy arises over which church – St. Stephen’s Catholic Church or Anglican Old North Church – would be “favored” with the front of the horse. Not surprisingly, Mayor James Michael Curley, a staunch Irish-Catholic, decided in favor of the former.
